Can you please do a plotonic Alien Reader x Damian Wayne?
Basically, the reader is from an alien race that is known to raise their hatchlings in groups/ colonies.
Reader just takes one look at Damian after joining the heros, and was like "yep, that's also my child now."
Reader just helping Damian with his sensory issues and being a somewhat emotionally available parental figure.
- 🦊
Platonic Damian Wayne and Alien male reader
Headcanons
Imagine the reader and Batman hissing at each other like angry alleyway cats because they both are adoption addicts, and have spotted an orphan at the same time.
You were from an alien species. You were reptilian in appearance, think Argonian from Skyrim, except you are taller and more built, have 6 eyes, 4 arms, and a long flexible tail.
What makes your species special is the fact that most have an elemental power of some sort. For most it isn’t very powerful, but for you it was strong enough that you were able to defend your home planet from invaders, singlehandedly.
Where most of your kind will only control one element, you are able to use all of them, and even able to do things like warp energy, magnetism, liquification, and more.
Your power is what has helped you defend not only your home planet, but earth, and the universe. But it has also hindered your ability to take part in your people’s tradition of raising children in colonies. You are so powerful your duty is to protect the universe, meaning you are far away from home most of the time, which leaves you feeling like you’re missing something most of the time.
Your species feels a deep urge to love and raise young, and things like adoption is very common as all kids are pretty much mutual ground, though children tend to have one or two people they prefer more than everyone else.
This also leads to a lot of outside adoption, as your people see children as most precious and think all children deserve a great future and good childhood.
When you met the justice league for the first time, it was because you were hunting down the current big bad who had wanted to destroy your home planet, and they fled to earth. The league didn’t even have time to take the guy down before you had smited him with lightning strong enough to make Zeus sweat.
It took a while for the league not to think you were a threat, but thanks to the green lanterns having worked with your people before, they were able to explain who you were and act as translators.
Your species doesn’t possess vocal cords the same way earthlings do, resulting you in having to use some of your powers to allow you to speak in a way they understand. There are new heroes on your home planet, so you are able to stay on earth.
Your people see it as a trading of information, like an exchange student program, as they are curious about the league and the league is curious about you, since you are rumored to be very powerful throughout the galaxy.
When you see all the young heroes for the first time you almost have a heart attack, because why would these adults allow the young ones to go out and put themselves in danger like that.
It took some explaining from Hal and other Lanterns to explain the cultural difference, and though you aren’t a fan you accept that its part of their culture, and that children aren’t coddled here like on your home planet.
On another note, you become quite popular with the younger heroes, since you always try to help out and treat them as equals.
The first time you meet Damian the parental part in your biology immediately starts chanting and making noise, pointing at Damian, and yelling “our child now”.
Of course, you can smell he’s batman’s offspring, but you notice that Batman doesn’t meet the standards for a guardian, and before anyone knows it you’ve scooped Damian up and declared him yours.
This of course doesn’t happen one day to the next, it takes a lot of bonding and getting to know each other. Damian has no idea what to do with the fact that you are so willing to be emotionally available to him, as he’s never truly had that.
When you learn that Damian is autistic (my hc), you immediately start researching autism in humans and how it affects them and their daily lives. This becomes very useful in your everyday life too of course, but it’s mainly for Damian.
Damian liking animals so much probably helps too, since you look like a lizard for the most part. You liking to sunbathe for warmth results in Damian joining you even though he doesn’t need it, and that becomes your spot. That’s when he opens up to you about his issues after a while, and you grow closer.
You start carrying noise cancelling headphones around when you learn Damian gets sensory overload, and use your powers to block out noise or light if it becomes too much for him.
With Damian comes the rest of the bats, and you are more than ready to adopt all of them. You don’t even comprehend how this isn’t normal for earthlings, so when you start to refer to them as your pod or colony, you don’t notice the confused looks you get.
Cue confrontation with Bruce, though to everyone else it just looks like two feral cats puffing up at each other and hissing a bit. You end up having to get outside help to figure it out, and after that you two figure it out.
Some of your teammates and the batkids definitely make fun of you guys for being coparents. I can imagine Jason calling himself a child of divorced parents even though you and Bruce are nothing but friends.
But even though you’ve pretty much accepted all of them into your colony, Damian is still your baby. He’s just young and small and you want to protect him, even though he hates being babied. Damian will never say it out loud but he likes being someone’s number one no matter what.

Gyomei and Kagaya friendship analysis/yap
Everybody overlooks this relationship, not on purpose of course, but it’s not really noticed. Yes, Ubuyashiki views all the demon slayers as his children, especially the hashira, but him and Gyomei have a special bond.
Side note: I find it cute how Kagaya calls all the demon slayers by their first names because no parent would call their child by their last name 😭💓🤞
Gyomei was around 18 when the temple incident happened, he was rescued by Kagaya shortly after, meaning he’s been close to Kagaya for around 9 years, allowing them to have a really close bond.
Kagaya did so much for Gyomei, he saved him from being executed, and saw him differently from everyone else. Gyomei felt like others viewed him as a monster after the incident, but Kagaya knew of his innocence, and saved him. And when Gyomei broke down, Kagaya held him and comforted him. Gyomei even stated that Kagaya would say exactly what one wanted to hear, he told Gyomei that he wasn’t a murderer, which caused Gyomei to break down, as he was experiencing guilt and self-loathing after that incident.
Gyomei would’ve been there to see the Ubuyashiki family grow, since all the kids are around 8 years old. I feel like Gyomei and Kagaya have been there for each other every step of the way, I believe they were good friends, despite having distance due to Kagaya’s status as the master.
Kagaya trusts all his children, but he had the most trust with Gyomei, because of that strengthened bond from all the time they’ve spent by each others side. Kagaya entrusted Gyomei with his plan, and I believe he also wanted to say a final goodbye to one of his closest friends, he knew Gyomei would understand, because he has such a kind, calm and understanding soul, he wouldn’t freak out, he would simply go along with the plan and carry it out in Kagaya’s honour.
I like these two images paired together, it’s a nice parallel. In the first image Gyomei is at his lowest, and had just escaped death, relieved and emotional due to Kagaya’s actions, and Kagaya is there to comfort him. In the second image, Kagaya is at his lowest, his illness at its worst, and he is about to meet death, Gyomei is there to support him. And of course, Gyomei is crying in both images, and Kagaya is smiling, just like his calm, serene self always is. It’s a nice contrast as Kagaya was part of the reason Gyomei escaped death, and gyomei was part of the plan that would ensue Kagaya’s death.
Their relationship truly is beautiful, and I wish we had a bit more content of their friendship, because I know it was a strong one.
Another detail I really liked is how gyomei got so angry here when sanemi disrespected Kagaya, veins were popping out of him and everything. Gyomei is normally a calm and collected guy, but Kagaya is literally such a good friend to Gyomei that he can’t stand anyone disrespecting him, that was such a nice detail.
Look at him, still trying to remain calm but not being able to mask his anger because Kagaya has just been screamed at by this roach. Gyomei obviously really appreciates Kagaya for what he did for him (freeing him from death.) and it’s so adorable.
In conclusion, what I’m trying to say here is that these two have a very good relationship/bond which is very underrated and overlooked. I only came to this conclusion when I first watched season 4 episode 8, as it’s not very obvious since the two act professional in the only episodes they’re together before that (s1 e22-23). Please nobody try and twist my words to make it out like I’m shipping the two because I’m not, key word in the title: FRIENDSHIP.
Kagaya himself is underrated as well, give my king some more attention!! Anyways if you read this THANK YOU SO MUCH, I needed to yap abt them, and plz any gyomei fans and even better, people who share the same views as me on this, moot me up on TikTok at @inlovewithkorra <3

I’m new to the fandom, I found the show on Disney and couldn’t look away. Jimin and Jungkook are so cute I had to know more about them. I found my way here to tumblr, it’s been a while since I’ve been involved in a fandom, but I do love their music and they seem to be such a cute couple!
I Read on here though that some people think these two were distant in the past year? I came across it looking for the way the travel show came to be, not that I found anything about that other than what was said on the show. I was just wondering why they made it and not fully with the group? I know some were enlisted at the time? Anyway, the take I found on a blog shocked me. This person saying they are either Fwb, they broke up or were just distant? But how can that be when they made this show? They seem so in tune with each other and domestic? And to enlist, which I learnt hadn’t been done before for an idol?
I just See commitment and got weirded out by said comments by people supposedly supporting them. I’ve never seen that in a fandom space before. I found some of your posts and you seemed level headed and I just wanted to ask your pov?
Thank you
Hi, and welcome to the fandom. Are you a BTS fan as well or just jikook? I'm so curious 😅 maybe they'll be your gateway drug to BTS and that would be WILD. Bcs shipping, or in jikook's case supporting, is usually something that happens once you look deeper into certain interactions or vibes.
And Jikook have vibes to spare! So it doesn't surprise me that you pick up on that.
When it comes to jikook I think the best way to approach them as you travel in these spaces is to just enjoy them for what they present to you. What you see, is what you get. Now, tbh some people look SO closely they think they're seeing things that aren't even there. They think they can infer motivation and emotions and whole backstories cut from cloth all from A LOOK, usually from a three second clip heavily slowed down 😂. I think it's much simpler than that. You see it. You put 2 and 2 together when you said 'they enlisted together'.
That's everything right there.
Jimin and Jungkook chose to be together. They've been choosing eo since they were teenagers. They're the ones who are most often seen together. No matter the setting. Jikook speak the same language, one borne of love and respect. They see the other, truly see, flaws and all and still love and support. They know things about the other they themselves can't know or see about themselves.
I'll be honest and say that I, too, thought at a certain point thar they might have cooled it down at a certain point. They are humans, after all, and relationships aren't always easy. In my eyes, they are mature enough to be able to revert back to friendship if that were to ever happen. Yet, I don't think they'd be able to stay away from each other. They really have something special going, and why would you deny yourself such a thing?!
I need to say, though, that jikook are not the first idols ever to enlist in the buddy program. Though I can't tell you who did.
It’s noteworthy because once again, jikook chose to deviate from what the other BTS members were doing. Defying everyone: their haters, solos, and the general fandom. But...jikook gonna jikook. No matter the eyerolling and haw clenching. And that, that takes some real guts.
The reason jikook did the travel show together and not with the group is because the others are not a part of their symbiosis. Easy as that. Jikook have something else going on. Something that makes them want to spend extra time together. This, however, does not threaten the group, nor the other friendships within, nor the special bonds they each have with other people. But it is different. And whomever doesn't see that is just being wilfully ignorant.
So, there it is. Plain and simple. By enlisting together, jikook are once again not hiding the (to some) obvious. It's just another step towards that something they've been nurturing. They've been doing it for years. No matter the cost. And that is not something you'd do with a fuck buddy 😌🙂↕️ right?
Thanks for your ask! 💜

Man I really do wish we had an episode about Hunter and King bonding over being the last of their kind and realizing their belief over being a special guy was a lie, as was their entire life; It’s fitting for King of all people to remind Luz that people will continue to believe lies because they don’t want to believe their whole life is a lie, in the same episode as Hunter having this revelation.
Plus there’s the dynamic in King being an actual Titan and Hunter being told the Titan had plans for him, and King deciding he’s just some guy and Hunter breaking away from this worship mentality of the Titan. Bonus points if we get Lilith therapy as the B-plot. Like, King shouldn’t have to have an episode showing how he’s like Hunter for fans to appreciate the same traits in another character who’s more important, but still.
That gets me to how Hunter’s storylines in S2 are about his similarities with other characters, interestingly enough; The exceptions are Hollow Mind except maybe you could say something about the Grimwalker revelation haha, more on that in a bit… And some other appearances. But in terms of personal storylines and not just tagging along? Hunter’s got parallels with everyone, I always found him most interesting in these episodes because it also shed further light and appreciation on the characters Hunter bounces off of.
And it’s ironic? He’s made to be a clone, to be like someone else, and his storylines in S2 are about how he’s like other people. But the difference is Hunter choosing to notice and acknowledge these similarities in strangers not connected to him and/or vice-versa, to relate to the out-group rather than be a witch hunter as was the intention.
(I also think it’s worth noting that because of the shortening, the show had to be really efficient with its time, and prioritize wrapping up what it already had; Intertwining Hunter’s storylines with a pre-established character is a clever way to develop both in a single A-plot, and also leads to this meta of course. And if Eda’s Requiem was the cut-off point, then I’ve noticed there’s a difference in how Hunter’s plot with Luz takes up the whole episode, but his storylines with characters past that threshold also have to co-exist with a B-plot, interesting!)
Plus in S3, we do see Hunter acknowledge the clone baggage with a storyline about being himself no matter what similarities there are, and his final storyline seems anti-Belos? In that he’s not going to let the death of a loved one (perceived in Belos’ case) be an excuse to be bitter to others offering help, hell he’ll even make it about those friends too; He truly shows he is very much NOT his uncle no matter what circumstances they may share, even the most unpleasant ones that could be an ‘excuse’.
So S2 for Hunter is about how he’s like others (while still having agency on his end), and S3 is how he isn’t, how he’s his own person. And between these it’s no wonder his takeaway from Caleb is being ambivalent about what similarities they have or not because he’s no longer insecure about his own identity or status as a clone, he is who he is and that’s all that matters.
The parallels are familial and not in a clone sense, and ultimately just symbolic and on a meta level, not in-universe. I think Hunter wouldn’t mind having good things in common with someone else, because it means he has them; It’s what led Hunter to his friends after all. He didn’t even seem to care about the revelation that Caleb was actually open to witches, he’d already resolved that.
And the irony is that for all his cloning, Belos was really trying to make Hunter unlike Caleb, because he didn’t really want Caleb either he wanted an idea of his brother. So Hunter being like Caleb but still his own person with his own palisman is great, as is the resemblances being largely unconscious; Because Hunter was never expected to know Caleb beyond the bare minimum, he doesn’t know he was also a woodcarver and so that fact can never bother Hunter as a Palisman carver, especially with his normalness about the subject. The clone status is treated like any other blood relation. Maybe that’s the narrative reason why Hunter never learns much.
(Reminds me of that Steven Universe episode where Steven worries about liberated gems still playing into their designated roles when they should be free of that, only to understand that it doesn’t matter if they’re like those things or not, the point is that they have the agency and free will to be otherwise if they choose to, plus some need space and time to acclimate to experimenting.)

why does everybody hate mcu clint so much??? i’ve read his comics but i still love jeremy renner’s portrayal of him and stuff :(
like i can understand being disappointed in some ways about how the character was changed for the movies, but i can’t understood all the hate for him
for me, personally, it's not that mcu clint is a bad character per se, it's really just the fact that he doesn't feel like clint barton. give him any other name and he's a fine character, but compare him to comic clint and they're in NO WAY the same person.
on one hand you have that responsible, serious husband and well adjusted father of three, who cracks a joke here and there but takes everything pretty serious most of the time, who has his life under control, while everyone else on the team is a mess. he doesn't have that much of a personality, no weird habits or (dis)likes, he really fades in comparison to other team members like tony, who's lines are always on point and who gets a back story and everything.
on the other hand there's this 6'3" disaster of a human being, who lives for coffee, dogs, tv shows and nothing else, is obsessed with purple for no reason at all, grew up in a circus after he escaped his abusive dad, can't take anything seriously and cracks the funniest joke all the fucking time, even makes fun of captain america on a regular basis (at least in the early avengers comics), runs away from himself and responsibility, fucks up nearly all of his relationships because he really sucks at emotions, but then forms those really precious bonds with people like kate, and who's just kind of an asshole really, but simultaneously a fucking ray of sunshine. plus he's deaf and we always love some representation. oh, and mcu clint is like the straightest guy ever, and then there's comic clint who is just so easy to headcanon as this bisexual disaster, and we all know how much fandom loves a queer coded character.
so, the mcu basically took away every fun part of the awesome character that is clint barton and it SUCKS. i really don't hate movie clint as his own character, i just hate hate HATE the fact that he's supposed to be THE clint barton because he IS NOT, and he'll never be. i'm sorry, but jeremy renner just can't pull it off, i'll never understand how they saw bigger-than-steve, blond-mess, purple-loving, coffee-addict comic clint and where like: "oh yeah, let's cast 5' 9" jeremy renner and give his character a huge, healthy family, and no mental health problems, that's just perfect😍"
it's just so sad to be aware of the awesomeness of comic clint and then watch the movies because you're constantly thinking "oh what could've been..." if they did comic accurate movie clint, he'd definitely be a fan-favourite and we'd have tons of edits, and ships, and merchandise, but NO, most mcu fans just forget about him or don't find him special or entertaining (bc his mcu version really really isn't) and he gets left out of all the casual merchandise you can find in random shops (i literally have an album on my phone that's dedicated to photos i took of cheap avengers merchandise with the "o6" avengers sans clint lmao)
you're obviously allowed to love movie clint and jeremy's portrayal, that's great!!! i was an mcu fan way before i even knew just how different comic clint was, and i loved mcu clint so much back then! but after reading the comics and thousands of fanfiction, i'm just really really angry that there isn't a good live action on screen representation of my all time favourite fictional character, and i think many people feel the same :(
okay, i think i'm done lmao.
anyways, shout out to avengers assemble clint, my one true love <3 the mcu should take notes.

Name: Burt the Ball
Debut: Yoshi’s Crafted World
Today’s post is very special, because we have a very esteemed guest joining us in the audience! Spikey’s very own grandmother is here, having heard so much about our posts, and she is delighted to attend this live post viewing! Everyone, it is my pleasure to introduce Mrs. Spikeworth!
“Oh, why, thank you, dearies! You’re too kind.”
(Now, just between you and me, I made sure to choose one of the most innocuous enemies I could, from an extremely family-friendly game. We need to make a good first impression! Anyway, on with the post!)
We all know and love Burt the Bashful, he is such a silly guy! A round guy with a big ol’ nose and funny striped pants. That’s our Burt! The poor guy is shy, though, so let’s give him his space. He is sheepish. Burt the Baaashful!
“Oh ho ho! How droll!”
Thank you, ma’am. Where was I? I wonder if people are tired of big Burts as Yoshi bosses. They sure do appear often! I think it’s good, because they are funny, but maybe there are some no-nonsense Yoshi fans out there who sigh and roll their eyes upon seeing the goofball pictured above. Oh well. Too bad. Yoshi’s Crafted World makes history by having a Burt boss NOT in the first world! And this one is a literal goofball!
Normally, a boss Burt is a small one enlarged by Kamek’s magic, but this case is a little different! Burt the Ball begins as a fresh, deflated beach ball, and is dropped into these big ol’ pants that were just hanging here. Are these even his? I don’t think we have conclusive evidence! It must be bad enough to be made aggressive against your will, but it’s downright insulting to get put into somebody else’s pants. What if they saw?! So embarrassing!
“My, I do like that the kids still get to see clothespins in their games today. My grandson is always trying to get me to use that new drying machine, but I swear my petticoat shrinks unless it’s dried the old-fashioned way!”
Yes, Mrs. Spikeworth, thank you for the, um, timeless wisdom.
I think Burt the Ball’s transformation is quite a sight, as we get to see him inflate his appendages one by one, and he is rendered so realistically! Get a load of those seems! I can feel him. I imagine holding his hand. It is so easy and you should imagine it too, and we will all be connected through our bond with him!
In true Burt fashion, though, he needs to pull his pants up! Silly fellow, but it happens to the best of us. Maybe he needs to buy something to hold those pants up. Burt the Belted would be unstoppable! Anyway, we’ve dwelt on this silly cutscene long enough, let’s let the poor guy get his pants up already!
Oh! Oh. Oh my. I swear this game is rated E. Can we, um, get that off the screen, please?
“What’s that, dearie? Dreadfully sorry, I’m just wiping off my glasses, I’ll look in a jiffy!”
Nothing, nothing! Just a, bug on the screen. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE
Here we have Burt the Ball and his adorable little apprentices! These are the Beach Burts, and they are in fact the only “normal” Burts in the game, as Burts only appear in this context! Not only that, these are the first ever Burt Variant. Big win for Burt fans!
As with all big Burts, the pants recede as he takes damage. Unlike other Burts, though, they for some godforsaken reason decided to actually depict- oh? Oh, it’s not there? Thank goodness. I do wonder where it went, but at least I don’t have to try to explain it now!
“I’m sorry, sweetie, explain what?”
Oh, just that... bug again, it’s, um, an invasive species, a lot to get into, wouldn’t be on-topic.
Anyway, that’s all today, and everyone please give a big hand to our special guest, the lovely Mrs. Spikeworth! We are honored she made the time for us on her way back home to the naturist resort!

Do you think a Dracula MBS AU would work? If so, in what way? Hope you are doing well!!!
Sophie, I love this question!! It’s actually something I have thought of, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to make into a post on its own. And I’m doing well, hope you are too :DDDD
Yes, Dracula MBS AU could be a thing, but I would definitely need to make a few tweaks. Us Dracula book fans aren’t a huge fan of “tweaks” for…certain reasons (*side eyes adaptations*), but this one would still be faithful to the spirit of the book. :)
Note: Heavy spoilers for Dracula, and the Mysterious Benedict Society. Also, I’m basing this AU on the MBS books, not the series (Curtain is not really redeemable in this one, though he is the gremlin man you know and enjoy!). As a disclaimer, all of the MBS characters that are kids are adults in this AU — in their 20s to be precise. Everyone else retains their original ages (except for the one who is playing Dracula, of course).
Jonathan Harker -> Reynie Muldoon
You know I had to start off with my one of my favorite blorbos and honestly, this just works. These two characters are a lot alike, more than you might assume. Both are considered “average” by others, and are constantly underestimated, which they shake off in different ways (Reynie with his abilities, Jonathan through the power of Tumblr’s book club). They have a kind heart and love helping others. They are meticulous and can be bold when needed, sometimes using clever words to talk themselves out of a situation (Jonathan several times in Dracula’s castle, Reynie when Curtain catches him looking at the Executive’s list). Jonathan and Reynie are also leadership material, though you probably wouldn’t think it by looking at them.
Mina Murray -> Kate Wetherall
Yeah, so those who know I ship these Reynie and Kate may have expected this one. I can’t help it! Still, I think these two work as well. Mina is very much an extrovert and will talk to everyone she meets, just like Kate. Mina may not carry a bucket, but she does carry her journals and writing around with her! Kate and Mina are both silly at times, adding their own personal flair to situations. I would see Kate embodying Mina’s bolder side and being excited about journalism for the chance to meet people. She is fine with studying and typing (especially to help/bond with Reynie), but it’s not her favorite thing, if that makes sense. Or, alternatively, she could have more of Mina’s affinity for typing and thoroughly love it! Up to you. Those who have read Dracula all the way through also know that Mina and Kate are also alike in their need to be *in the action*, not sidelined. And they’re absolutely correct.
Dracula -> Ledroptha Curtain
Yeah, this one is pretty obvious. Both are cackling villains, both like their cat-and-mouse games: it just fits! Plus, if you compare Curtain’s weird lecture/manipulative speeches to Reynie in the first book to Dracula’s speeches to Jonathan…it’s almost uncanny how similar they are!!! Dracula and Curtain honestly use a lot of the same tactics to draw their victims in (making them feel special/isolated, puffing his own ego, etc.).
Renfield -> Crawlings
I’ll be honest, Crawlings is my favorite Ten Man and I can just see him as Renfield. He’s soooooo weird and I love him for it!!! Bro has one eyebrow and was constantly being quirky. Can I see this man eating a fly and being locked in an asylum in 1800s England? Yes, yes I can. Plus, his name is Crawlings and he follows Curtain. ‘Nuff said.
Van Helsing -> Nicholas Benedict
You probably also saw this one coming after I paired Dracula with Curtain. This Dracula AU fits a lot better than one first assumes and here is another example. Van Helsing in the novel is very much a quirky professor, befuddling his former student (Seward) with his metaphors and laughing far too much to be in the horror novel Dracula, let’s be honest. In the same way, Nicholas Benedict is a jovial, unassuming man, who one wouldn’t think to be a genius instrumental to saving the world, yet he’s in the very name of the book series! In the same way, Van Helsing has garnered a name for himself that has far outlived his first appearance in the novel: as much as Dracula lives on in the public sphere, Van Helsing is right beside him. I think this fits Nicholas to a tee. Plus, Nicholas and Van Helsing are capable of great seriousness and emotional depth when the situation calls for it.
Aaaaaaand this is where things get switched around. I’m going to list the characters first, then describe how exactly their arcs would be changed, but I want to make it clear that this Suitor Squad would not be a Suitor Squad anymore in my AU. I do not ship these characters!!!!! Just want to make that clear upfront.
Lucy Westerna -> Constance Contraire
This one is a bit of a stretch personality-wise, but it’s the clearest fit in terms of leading/supporting characters. Lucy is obviously a very sweet person and Constance is…well…the society says it best: “Constance is Constance”. However, in RoA, we do get a glimpse of a sweeter Constance and I do believe this is how Constance will be once she matures: still her feisty self, just able to let her empathetic side show more. And really, that’s who Lucy is. She has a defiant and bold streak within her: this is just held back by the confines of Victorian society (though not in the way adaptations want to portray her — I just mean she could be more sassy if she wanted to). Whether Constance adapts more of Lucy’s bubbly and sweet personality or retains her sassy and grumpy self is up to you. Either way, her and Kate (Mina) would definitely still be best friends and have a similar relationship they have in MBS, perhaps with a dash of maturity (LOL). Lucy/Constance is also the youngest, clocking in at 19, to everyone else’s mid- to late- 20s.
Quincey Morris -> Milligan
You can probably see why I emphasized the importance of not shipping these characters. So yes, Milligan now takes the role of an American cowboy and I think he would adopt this role with gusto! Of course, in this AU he’s never lost his memories so he is his cheerful self. He is a lot like Quincey in being perpetually cheerful, compassionate and a good friend to the rest of the Crew of Light (plus, earnestly cheering them up when needed and kicking Dracula/Curtain’s butt — both of these characters excel at their job). Quincey is known as the oathmaker of Dracula, always keeping the promises he makes. Readers of MBS know that Milligan also takes his promises seriously, so much so that his last promise became his very name (how his name is still Milligan when he didn’t lose his memories doesn’t make sense, but…you know…uh….*magic*). Is he Kate’s father in this AU? Perhaps. 😏 I once commented to @nobodysdaydreams that these two would be father/daughter in every universe, so I think even if they’re not biologically related, they would certainly fit that dynamic and adopt each other as such.
Jack Seward -> George “Sticky” Washington
Seward is definitely on the darker side of what Sticky is capable of, but I don’t think this is out of the realm of possibilities for Sticky. I honestly think he could’ve become something like this, had he not been exposed to Mr. Benedict and his friends at a young age. Not that Sticky is “bad” or “evil” in this AU — Jack isn’t either!!!!!! I would just say he has bad coping mechanisms and needs therapy for depression…so just hand that over to Sticky without the strongest support system and I think these two meld together well.
Arthur Holmwood -> SQ Pedalian
For all my SQ lovers, this one’s for you!!! SQ and Arthur are both sweet guys who really shouldn’t be in traumatic situations, but, unfortunately, are. Fun to be around and a beacon of light to those they meet, SQ and Arthur always try to make the best of a bad situation! I think SQ would fit right into Arthur’s role, though it won’t be easy for him as the book goes along…
Three Vampire Sisters -> Martina, Jillson and Jackson
I believe it makes sense for Curtain’s most trusted executives to also be in his castle as his vampires in this AU. Oh, and Jackson’s here too — for the vibes. :D yes, they do try to “seduce” Reynie. Yes, it is weird (though, as a reminder, minus the vampire thing they’re similar in age — Reynie is in his 20s and the vampire siblings got turned into vampires around the same age). No, I don’t want to dwell on it.
Mr. Hawkins - Miss. Perumal
While it wouldn’t make any sense for Jonathan/Reynie’s boss to be a woman in this time period, I am making Mr. Hawkins Miss Perumal anyway because I do not care. Jonathan basically calls Mr. Hawkins his adopted father and that is what Miss. Perumal is to Reynie. Whether you want to make Miss Perumal a guy or just make Victorian England less sexist in this AU is up to you (I’m rooting for the latter).
Captain of the Demeter -> Captain Noland
I think this one explains itself. Noble captain of The Shortcut becomes the noble (and, unfortunately, doomed) captain of the Demeter. 🫡🫡
First Mate of the Demeter -> McCracken
My choice here might seem strange — and it is — but I honestly think this first mate that gets more and more desperate is better filled by McCracken the Ten Man than anyone else. I truly believe if something supernatural happened to him, he would not believe it and would scoff at anyone who did — until it was too late. Then, he would try to fight the monster (as the First Mate does), and if he had no option left…flee. That’s my interpretation of McCracken’s true character anyways — just give him less weapons and less self-confidence. Plus, I wanted McCracken to be a part of this and had no good place for him (lol). 🤷♀️
Second Mate of the Demeter -> Canonball
The bravest “mate” on the crew, I chose Canonball as Second Mate instead of First Mate because he would be exactly the type of man to volunteer to keep watch and let everyone else get some sleep; unfortunately, that kind of selflessness is not rewarded by Dracula. :( RIP Canonball in this AU, you will be missed. 🫡
Mrs. Westerna -> Number Two
I’m envisioning a different kind of relationship than mother/daughter for Lucy/Constance and Mrs. Westerna/Number Two. I’ll explain it more when we get to my “changes”, but suffice it to say, Mrs. Westerna/Number Two is an aunt or mentor figure to Lucy/Constance rather than a biological mother. I picked Number Two for this role because she has Mrs. Westerna’s strict adherence to rules down and an anxious streak, though to a lesser extent of course. These qualities would be dialed up to 11 for the AU.
“Correspondent” -> Rhonda Kazembe
According to a number of posts I’ve seen on here (though I haven’t been able to find anything when I looked it up — doesn’t mean it’s not true, just means my research skills needs work!), Stoker originally envisioned a woman reporter who ended up working with the Crew of Light to take down Dracula. Whether due to time constraints or too many characters to keep track of, he dialed this character back to a “Correspondent” (gender unidentified) who reports on the Demeter’s landing, and what has become of the ship. While we don’t get much from this Correspondent, they show a lot of personality in just two entries: boasting about their running abilities and reporting about villagers wanting to be friends with a dog. I would definitely select Rhonda for this role because, while she may seem quiet and ordinary, she hides a ton of inner personality! I think I would give this Rhonda a little bit of her energy from the show because her actress just did such a good job of embodying her character and giving her an even more distinct personality that I think would go great with the Correspondent. Other than that, I do think she would work with the Crew of Light in this one, as Stoker originally intended, though how much and in what capacity, I’m not sure of.
Mr. Swales -> Risker
I was honestly thinking of picking one of the Ten Men for this one, but I think “kooky old man who you can’t tell what he’s saying half the time” fits Risker perfectly. 😂😂
Now that we have all the chess pieces into place (yes, that was an MBS reference), how do they move around the chessboard? Most Dracula fans by now will probably be shouting at me “But Nova, if there’s no Suitor Squad, how will you fulfill Lucy’s arc?” Well you see, there’s one relationship we need to consider here: that of Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict and Lucy/Constance.
So for those who may not know (on both sides of the fandom), Van Helsing considers Lucy to be his daughter in a sense. In MBS, Mr. Benedict ends up adopting Constance, though this is not an easy process, as her papers are lost to time. I intend to merge these two story arcs.
So to start, Lucy/Constance would be an orphan, not being born from a wealthy family like in the original book. She would meet Jonathan/Reynie and Mina/Kate and they would all be childhood friends, as in the original book, though perhaps Lucy/Constance understands the other two on a deeper level — as they all three know what it’s like to be orphans and to want for friendship and parents.
Somewhere along the way, Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict meets Lucy/Constance (she’s in her teens at this point) and he starts to see her as the daughter he wants to have. Unfortunately in Victorian England, there’s no legal adoption process. So basically, Lucy/Constance can only have the feeling of having a father, no papers to prove it. And just like in the MBS series, this causes her to feel frustrated and insecure (though with a bit more maturely, since she’s older lol). Another issue is that she rarely sees Van Helsing/ Mr. Benedict since he’s working on research in Germany. He doesn’t want to take her with him, since he presumes she should be out living her life and learning how to be a lady (more out of a desire for her to fit in with other girls and make friends than him sticking to the confines of society). Which is why he’s entrusted her with Mrs. Westerna/Number Two, providing her a permanent place to live. We can also work something in there about Milligan/Quincey (a family friend of his) adopting Mina/Kate along the way or them being father/daughter (you could swap Mina and Lucy’s roles here). I personally like the former option, but the latter works as well!
Living with Mrs. Westerna/Number Two is nice, but not what Lucy/Constance wants. She only wants to be with her father :(. At this point, she’s an adult and can make her own choices, so she asks her father if she can go on a trip with him. Surprisingly, he says yes!
Rather than the three iconic proposals here, I envision Lucy/Constance telling her three family friends (because Van Helsing has a LOT of those) about her impending trip instead, which they all take in different ways. Seward/Sticky does not take this well. Van Helsing is kind of a father figure to him as well and having him be away has been difficult for him to handle. Now, hearing that he’s going to “lose” someone he considers to be his sister as well is just too overwhelming for him to hear. He accepts it, but doesn’t like it. Milligan/Quincey is excited for her, but sad to see her go. He feels a “loss” as well, since he considers Lucy/Constance to be his daughter, though he’s never said it. Arthur/SQ is the only one truly excited for her, giving her travel tips, as he’s traveled himself and wants her to have only the best experience. It may not be as dramatic or exciting as proposals, but I do think this works with hitting similar emotions from the three men (grief, bittersweet, and joy).
Then we come to the sad part of our story. Lucy/Constance begins experiencing symptoms of a vampire bite and while Sticky/Seward tries to care for her himself, his last resort is to call in Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict (which he doesn’t want to do, because he doesn’t want him to see her like this and it feels too much like the end…). When Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict arrives, he understands very clearly what is going on, and it pains him to see his daughter in this condition. However, for her sake, he keeps to his jovial self (and he retains his narcolepsy, so you can play a lot with him trying not to give in to this emotional turmoil).
At first, it seems like things are working in their favor: they put up garlic and it seems to keep the evil bat away. Unfortunately, Mrs. Westerna/Number Two doesn’t get the memo and takes the garlic down, leaving poor Lucy/Constance exposed. That’s when the bad turns to the worse.
If you want maximum angst here, you can go with the canon ending…which is that Lucy/Constance dies. And if you thought Van Helsing’s reaction to Lucy’s death was bad (which is a full on mental breakdown, by the way), this is oh-so much worse. Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict is inconsolable. He won’t talk to anyone. He keeps waking up and passing out for a full day, he is SO full of emotion. He mourns that he was never able to take her on a trip or able to legally adopt her. Not to mention, Dracula/Curtain took Mrs. Westerna/Number Two from him too, so he’s mourning THAT death as well. So yeah, needless to say, he’s not in a good place. And he’s determined to avenge the people he’s lost at any price. Also, he would have to be the one to stake Lucy/Constance when she eventually turns into the Bloofer Lady (which he would be in denial about at first, though he would see all the signs). Because I need this to be more heartbreaking, apparently. By the end of this AU, him and Jonathan/Reynie are very much silently sharpening a knife, waiting for their moment to strike at Dracula/Curtain (who looks eerily similar to Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict, that’s strange…).
Since MBS is included in this, though, I don’t know if this would be what happens. I kind of believe Lucy/Constance would make it through in this AU. So either Mrs. Westerna/Number Two actually listens to Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict (which is likely, let’s be honest) or they’re able to save her in some other way. Bottom line: Lucy/Constance makes it, and she’s infinitely grateful! Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict vows to take her on a trip very soon and makes her a little adoption certificate thing. It’s not real, but to them it is! On the inside, however, Van Helsing/Mr. Benedict is very angry at Dracula/Curtain for almost killing his daughter and that’s not something he takes lightly…
So yeah, those are my ideas for a Dracula MBS AU. Hope you like it! :D

Welcome to...
YURI'S SHITTY SHIPPING HOT TAKES!
Where I discuss my opinions on ships on fandoms I'm in and go on a whole ass tangent on them!
~•°☆°•~
Today's shitty shipping hot take I have on is in the hyperfix that has a chokehold on me right now:
POKÉMON!!!
Now, we're gonna go off strong, so fair warning for spoilers, age gaps and all that nasty stuff.
The ship I have opinions on is Ferriswheelshipping (Hilda x N) and Isshushipping (Hilbert x N), and boy, do I have opinions on them!
Now, to discuss the Copperajah in the room, there's one MAJOR problem I have with these two ships, that's right: there's a huge-ass age gap!
"What's the age gap," you ask? Well, only 6 years. What makes it worse is that N is canonically 20 (stated by one of the devs in an interview) and Hilda/Hilbert are 14.
Now, I get it if the protags are age ambiguous, but the problem I have here is that most, if not all of the pokémon protags are MINORS, ranging from young tween and late teens. (The Kalosian protags look like young adults and are age ambiguous, so their ages are up for interpratation.) This problem comes up whenever a pokémon protag is shipped with someone who's literally an adult (again, age ambiguous, but my point still stands.)
The shipping archetype, to my knowledge is a rival-to-friends-to-lovers trope. Now, Rivals-to-Lovers isn't a bad shipping trope, but it should only be OK when A) the characters are both consenting adults and B) if not, are the same age at least.
N, in this case is the 'rival' to Hilda/Hilbert, the protagonists. N is an interesting case: he was an orphan, raised by pokémon and taken in by Ghetsis (asparagus man) to be indoctrinated and conditioned to be Team Plasma's King, being taught that humans are bad and they abuse pokémon.
The protags and N first meet early on in the game, and they meet several times in-game and they battle (in true rival fashion.) However, when they reach Nimbasa City, N invites the protags to ride the ferris wheel with him. The dialogue differs depending on the protag's gender, but the moment they had was intimate (not the dirty kind, get your mind out of the gutter), despite N inviting them there as a diversion for the Team Plasma grunts to escape.
Throughout the story, their bond gets stronger as friends and rivals, and it comes to a climax at the final battle. Post-battle, N realises how much he fucked up and how Ghetsis manipulated and pratically abused him for his own gain. N basically apologises and leaves with Reshiram/Zekrom to 'atone' and we never see him again until BW2, but Hilda/Hilbert are just gone by then.
So, in canon, essentially, N had trauma dumped the kids. They only have a rivals-to-friends dynamic, and to the fans, they ate it up and went apeshit. (N is hot, so I could sense a bit of self-projecting with the shipping with the protags, but I could be wrong-)
I get it that N has had an unorthodox upbringing and is autism-coded, but it doesn't excuse the fact that N is a grown-ass man. The only solutions I got to make it less worse is to either age Hilda/Hilbert up to adults (and not the bullshit "they're 18 on paper, but is still the same in everything else", like actually age them up), or shipping a self-insert or OC with N (Yumeshipping is cool, and there's nothing wrong with shipping an OC with a canon character as long as it's not problematic.)
I can only see them as close friends, as N sees Hilbert/Hilda as a 'special friend', considering that they had helped him realise his mistakes and how much of a shitty person Ghetsis actually is. (N should actually go see a fucking therapist, smh)
So, to sum it up, please pay attention to the character's ages if they're mentioned in canon, I'd rather not have my blorbo/husbando having to deal with the 'allegations' (/nsrs).
I'mma rate this ship a 1/10.
~•°☆°•~
(Please don't harass me because I'm only stating my opinion on this. I have no beef with those who ship this, OK? Everyone has an opinion, just like how everyone has an asshole.)
Sources of the ages:

”Sephiroth trusts Zack because Zack looks past his hero status and treats him like a human.”
Certain FF7 fans: Sephiroth was always someone that saw himself as better than everyone else and had a huge ego because he was told he was special.
Make. It. Make. Sense.
I do believe that Sephiroth saw himself as special. But not in a way in which he felt superior and better than other people, but more in the way of knowing he was different and designated for a different kind of life than others. There is some ego in that, but it's ego that is ENFORCED by what Shinra positioned him into. He has a right to feel that way. But he doesn't look down on others so much as feel a disconnect from them.
I think that's why Zack's bond with him is pretty good. He forces his way through, and they have someone they both mutually care about to help break down their barriers. Zack also isn't afraid to challenge Seph or call him out on wrongdoing, which is probably very refreshing for Sephiroth. If Seph were truly an egomaniac, he would have backhanded Zack a long time ago for daring to get testy with him. Instead, he actually seems to appreciate it.

When it comes to Sara Snow, it seems, to me, that there is a bit of an ethnicity issue as well. I have seen a non-zero amount of people who unironically say shit like 'Why would Jace pick some unwashed Northern hillbilly over Baela?' I genuinely wish I was exaggerating, but I'm not. That is, word-for-word, what was said about her in some of the posts I saw. My jaw dropped when I first saw it.
Baela is a Targaryen, a royal woman who has the blood of two Valyrian houses running in her veins. It's no secret that Targs are believers in the supremacy of their blood, as are the vast majority of their fans- So to them, Baela, as a Valyrian girl, is special.
In contrast, Sara is a Northwoman who presumably worships the Old Gods- A girl from a culture that is widely looked down on, and a follower of a minority religion. So, in the Valyrian supremacists' minds, she's of a 'lower' race.
This is exacerbated by the infuriating fact that this fandom, even the non Targ stan sides of it, seems to genuinely buy into the claim of Northern 'savagery' Instead of understanding that maybe, just maybe, the text is trying to critique the discrimination and prejudice certain portions of society face based on the arguments of some cultures and peoples being 'barbaric'
So when these two factors are combined together, their already existing distaste for Sara Snow snowballs into a perception of her as a bastard girl who is not only of a 'lower' race, especially when compared to the "ultra special" Valyrians, but also of a 'savage' one.
You phrased exactly what I was thinking but couldn't figure out how to put into words, thank you!
It is very jarring. It always comes from extreme targ stans who speak about her in a way that genuinely feels like they are just a few steps away from calling her a slur. She's a Northern, she follows a minority religion that no one shows any respect towards, she is a bastard, and she has absolutely no ties to Valyria what so ever.
Sara Snow and Baela are as far away from each other in commonality as they possibly could be, and that makes people uncomfortable at the idea that Jace fell in love with the opposite of everything that makes Baela so special and highborn. How could he look at this lowborn Northern savage bastard and see anything he couldn't have from his highborn Valyrian princess?
Now thats not me shaming Baela, but that is everyone else shaming Sara. It's why they insist she didn't exist. It's easier to pretend that her and Jace falling in love was a made up fairy tale, rather then to face the facts that everything about the Targaryean supremecy that Jace grew up with became the exact opposite of what he fell in love with. He fell in love with a girl that represents a life completey opposite of his, and yet she looked at a prince who was also the complete opposite of her, and didnt treat him any different either.
I don't think it's a coincidence Jace fell in love with her when he was completely and utterly disconnected from his family. He was in the North for weeks. He bonded with Cregan, they hunted together, they came to see each other like brothers. And he spent time with Sara, a bastard girl who like her brother, didn't judge him for being a prince or for the rumours he was a bastard, and fell in love with who he was seperate of all of that. Something impossible for a Targaryean/Velaryon to do with one another.
It makes these people uncomfortable that their Targaryean Prince fell in love with everything that stands against what the Targaryeans represent. With Baela, there was no mistake. He was always going to be Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, heir to the Iron Throne, and rumoured Strong bastard. But to Sara, he was just Jace. There were no expectations on who they had to be in front of each other because they had nothing looming over who they were to one another. Sara had nothing to lose, because she has nothing to offer but herself, and Jace fell in love with that.
It should say something to them that the character they supposedly love so much, fell in love with what they look at as a savage, wild, unruly Northerner. Why did Jace see all of those supposed things and still fall in love? Maybe because he learned none of those things are true, and there is nothing wrong with Sara nor Cregan as Northerners which would make him look down on them.
And it's that which makes them uncomfortable. They don't want to see in Sara what Jace saw in Sara, because it means challenging their preconceived notions about the North in general and they don't want to do that.
They are comfortable in their bubble where the Targaryeans represent the best way of life, and the North is just a wild and chaotic place that is too stubborn to be "tamed" or "controlled". When really, Jace got over those things and saw her for who she is, so it should say something about how much they really like his character, they they refuse to accept what he accepted.
They'd rather say she was a dirty Northern bastard who was nothing compared to the beautiful, special, royal Targaryean bride he had waiting for him at home. When in reality, there was nothing wrong with Baela, but there was nothing wrong with Sara either.
Jace saw that for himself, and his heart followed suit. His heart chose genunity and love over what and who he was told to love soley because their marriage was advantagous for his own families power.
Baela grants them both power, Sara offers Jace no power and he chose Sara anyway. And I think it says something about the people who hate her, that they refuse to agnowledge why he chose her.
They'd rather live in a world where she is just a savage bastard girl who probably didn't exist in the first place.
#this bleeds into a broader issue too#of why these same people are so depserate to make jon snow a full targaryean#it absolves jon of everything they think is a flaw#him being a northern a stark a feral wolf who cant be controlled and is of no worth in the heirarchy of the royal structure#Jon probably heard the stories that people doubt if Sara Snow ever existed#and feared as a child that one day that would be him#nothing but an unworthy bastard who brought down the highborns around him who history wished so quickly to pretend never existed#rather then accept there was nothing wrong with who they were in the first place#Sara Snow

Byakuya headcanons
[Above: When you tell them to stop being poor but they keep doing it anyway]
Took me a while to warm up to this twerp. Then again, I have some experience with finding the charm in smug aristocrats in unlikely found family situations...
This is kind of an easy one, but I like to think Byakuya has more affection for his surviving classmates than he cares to admit. They all know that, to one degree or another. So they put up with him treating them like lowly employees, and he puts up with them treating him like an equal.
Byakua spends a good chunk of Trigger Happy Havoc biding his time, waiting for the right moment to "win" the Killing Game with the perfect murder. The fourth trial changes his mind, and after that everyone pretty much lets bygones be bygones. But Byakuya's never forgotten what he intended to do, or how thoroughly he planned it. The closer he gets to the others, the more it haunts him, and he doesn't talk about it.
I don't have any specific ideas about what sort of murder Byakuya was planning. But when I watched chapter five I became certain he was the killer, until the twists at the end. The timeframe of the murder largely depends on Toko's testimony, and it conveniently forces Makoto and Kyoko to break each other's alibis rather than work together towards a common goal. So I'd imagine Byakuya's perfect crime would look something like that.
I'm a big fan of the way Dan Avidan voiced Byakuya in the Game Grumps play-through. Nothing against the actual official voice actors for the character, of course. But after he gets the hang of it, Dan does this low, almost growly thing that adds so much seething contempt to the dialogue. For me it's the missing piece that elevates the character from Draco Malfoy to Baron Zemo.
Upon escaping the Killing Game, Byakuya thinks he's the leader of the gang. He is not. It's just easier to let him believe that nobody else can make a decision without his approval. What keeps this dork squad running smoothly is that he's not a complete tyrant, since he respects Makoto and Kyoko for their insight.
Byakuya is sharp enough to pick up on Makoto and Kyoko's feelings for one another, arguably before either of them do. On the other hand, he doesn't actually expect them to act on those feelings. (Byakuya does not read my fanfiction.) From his point of view, it'd be like if his gardener made a pass at his attorney--it'd never work out, and he wouldn't want either of them to get hurt, and more importantly it would reduce their usefulness to him personally.
It's hard for me to get a bead on Byakuya's relationship with Hina or Hiro, beyond the fact that they're all in the larger group. The lazy approach would be that they're not close to each other but they all have Makoto in common. But to me the interesting thing about this found family is the idea that everybody has a special attachment to everybody else, even if we only see them being rude to each other. So I choose to believe Byakuya has a unique bond to Hiro and to Hina, and I just have to keep digging to identify it.
Along those lines, I want to believe Byakuya cares--at least a little--for Toko. Don't get me wrong--he obviously despises the way she moons over him in front of everybody. And I'm hardly convinced he reciprocates her romantic feelings. However, Toko is a masochist that takes every compliment as an attack, and Byakuya is very observant. If he wanted to be nice to her, he'd treat her exactly the way he does treat her, and nobody would know the difference. (Well, Kyoko could figure it out, but I'm not sure she'd give a shit.)
I am intrigued by the fact Byakuya's family is part of some secret cabal that controls (controlled?) the world, which gives him access to a library full of secret knowledge he reads for fun. Kind of like when I read Time Life's Mysteries of the Unknown. I think he should have a peculiar interest in Atlantis or something goofy like that. Hmm, maybe that's how he bonds with Hiro...
I like the idea of the survivors going underground immediately after THH, and getting by on their own for a while before the Future Foundation locates them. To that end, I imagine them leaning on Byakuya's Illuminati-type shit. Like, his family had some secret underground bunker set up for the end of the world, so we might as well see if it's still intact. I also wonder if the troops he led in Danganronpa 3 were assigned to him within the Future Foundation or his own private army from his connections to the cabal.
Obviously a lot of these are still pretty half-baked. Maybe if all goes well I'll find ways to refine them...

New Releases
A whole slew of books to start our summer off right. Which of these is your first summer read?
Northranger by Rey Terciero illustrated by Bre Indigo HarperAlley
Cade has always loved to escape into the world of a good horror movie. After all, horror movies are scary–but to Cade, a closeted queer Latino teen growing up in rural Texas–real life can be way scarier.
When Cade is sent to spend the summer working as a ranch hand to help earn extra money for his family, he is horrified. Cade hates everything about the ranch, from the early mornings to the mountains of horse poop he has to clean up. The only silver lining is the company of the two teens who live there–in particular, the ruggedly handsome and enigmatic Henry.
But as unexpected sparks begin to fly between Cade and Henry, things get… complicated. Henry is reluctant to share the details of his mother’s death, and Cade begins to wonder what else he might be hiding. Inspired by the gothic romance of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey and perfect for fans of Heartstopper and Bloom comes a modern love story so romantic it’s scary.
Pedro & Daniel by Federico Erebia illustrated by Julie Kwon Levine Querido
Pedro and Daniel are Mexican American brothers growing up in 1970s Ohio. Their mother resents that Pedro is a spitting image of their darker-skinned father; that Daniel likes dolls; that neither boy plays sports. Both are gay and neurodivergent. They are alike, but they are dissimilar in their struggles, their dreams, their approach to life.
Pedro & Daniel is a sweeping and deeply personal novel that spans from childhood, through their teen years, and into adulthood. Theirs is a bond that won’t be broken. Together they endure an abusive home life, coming out, first loves, first jobs, and the AIDS pandemic, in a coming-of-age story unlike any other.
Despite everything, there is much joy in the stories in the book. Their resilience and special bond help the boys face one evil after another. While Pedro suffers more at home, Daniel is particularly susceptible to the malevolence of the outside world.
They are similar: gay, neurodivergent Latinos in love with all things Mexico.
Son tal para cual. They are cut from the same cloth.
They are different: Pedro is darker-skinned, oppressed, repressed, introverted, and agnostic. Daniel is precocious, carefree, mischievous, religious, and unguarded.
Mismo perro, distinto collar. Same dog, different collar.
When it All Syncs Up by Maya Ameyaw Annick Press
Ballet is Aisha’s life. So when she’s denied yet another lead at her elite academy because she doesn’t “look” the part, she knows something has to change–the constant discrimination is harming her mental health. Switching to her best friend Neil’s art school seems like the perfect plan at first. But she soon discovers racism and bullying are entrenched in the ballet program here, too, and there’s a new, troubling distance between her and Neil. And as past traumas surface, pressure from friends and family, a new romance, and questions about her dance career threaten to overwhelm her. There’s no choreography to follow–for high school or for healing. Aisha will have to find the strength within herself–and place her trust in others–to make her next move.
Good as Gold by Candace Buford Disney Hyperion
Casey’s life in Langston has been charmed. She’s the queen bee of her prep school, a shoe-in for prom queen, and on her way to the Ivy League come fall. She can’t wait to leave the whole town of Langston behind her. That is until her father loses his job and she finds herself on the brink of losing her ticket out of town.
The town of Langston is known for its picturesque lake and robust summer tourism. Everyone who lives in town has heard the rumors at some point– there is a treasure buried deep below the surface that no one has ever been able to find. * ( THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE / SENTENCE PROMPTS. | ❛ It wouldn’t have changed anything. ❜ (for winnie) asked by @freakarus
Winnie had been waiting for this...
It had always been a terrifying thought in the back of her mind, assuming that this would happen in the very distant future. Eddie was her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, and she had always daydreamed that they would be together until they were both old and gray. Eddie would become a famous guitar player playing in giant stadiums with thousands of screaming fans but when he wasn't on tour, they'd be home together watching every sunset and counting every shooting star in the sky. Maybe they would even have kids. Yeah, a bunch of kids that took too much after their parents. There'd be the one with blonde hair that looked so much like Winnie it was uncanny and another obsessed with D&D that Eddie could really bond with.
It really would have been great...
But all of her daydreaming came to an end when Eddie died in a world that she never even knew existed until it was too late. There wasn't a damn thing her ability had been able to do to help them no matter how much she wanted to make a difference. All she was left with was their ghosts, which is how she knew Eddie would find her sooner or later. Like he said once — he was a moth and she was the light he was drawn to.
Winnie had hoped that it was a nightmare, that she had been trapped in a wretched state of dreaming where her worst fears came true. It's why when Eddie appeared at her bedside, all she wanted to do was dive into his arms so that he could hold her tight, and have him press his lips against her hair so that he could whisper sweet promises that everything was going to be okay because he was here now. Technically, he could do all those things given her ability to see and feel him, but he wouldn't be able to promise a life with him in it. He had to move on and so did she.
❝ I couldn't do anything, ❞ she choked out, feeling guilty for something that wasn't actually her fault. Tears flooded her eyes, blue eyes looking even more oceanic than normal. ❝ My mom tried to tell me I'm special for being able to have this ability but I'm not. I couldn't even use it to help you stop Vecna. ❞
What she really meant to say was that she couldn't use it to stop him from dying. Dustin said he had sacrificed himself to save everyone else and she loved him so much for that, that it physically hurt her. ❝ I just...wait for ghosts. That's all I'm good for. ❞ Blinking, tears rolled down her flustered cheeks and she could barely see him through them. She wanted to see him, stare at his features, and ingrain them in her memory before he disappeared forever. ❝ I don't want to let you go, ❞ she whimpered.

Lucky raph and Donnie are my favorites lol! I noticed that honestly raph fans love Donnie XD
Yeah for real! I mean I think we all have our faves and there’s nothing wrong with that. I just love how they all work together. Like Donnie being my fave also means that I am thinking about Raph constantly. Especially the 2003 boys, they’re so closely knit. I think we could even say they have their favorites too—Splinter favors Leo, Raph practically says Mikey is his favorite. The show never says so but Raph is Donnie’s favorite, to me. But we still get to see close bonds with Splinter and Donnie, or Raph and Leo.
Imma put a cut because this is about to get long
I adore how Raph is everyone’s best friend. Oldest sibling coded to me, probably mostly because of my oldest sister, hehe.
But for real, Leo seems more comfortable goofing off with Raph than with anyone else. Raph also pushes him to try things that scare him, which is so precious considering how much Leo’s arc, especially early on, centers around pushing through fear. Also love that Leo seems to recognize when Raph just needs space to be angry, because yeah! What they’re dealing with isn’t normal! Let the teenager rage it’s healthy
Mikey antagonizes Raph more than the other guys, which I think there’s some issues there both ways but the issues come from the closeness. They’re the siblings who constantly want to be together until they literally drive each other up a wall. I imagine when they were little Splinter would try to separate them when things got back and they would just, sneak back to each other’s rooms, both to continue the fight and because they missed each other. They’re so siblings.
And Donnie’s bond with Raph is so most special to me. They’re just so gentle with each other. And when Raph and Leo are arguing, which does tend to be about bigger more serious subjects with real potential to divide, Donnie stays the most neutral. He follows Leo in the City at War arc, but unlike Mikey he doesn’t necessarily agree or disagree. Even little moments like when Raph does something ‘crazy’ (Leo’s bar is low for what he sees as reckless, this poor boy is so stressed), Donnie lets Leo talk to him about it, and then follows Raph lol. Raph also seems to be the one to help Donnie with his feelings, which he is kind of out of touch with. Like in The King, when he gets back and he just lost a friend, it’s Raph we see interacting. There’s no conversation about it (ever, canon will only let Leo process on screen), but at least it’s a small moment of Raph seeing that he’s upset and understanding he needs space. I imagine when Donnie tries to have a full-time job at O’Neil Tech—which at once once gives him space to process everything he’s compartmentalized and forces him to make his brain work in new ways, which causes extreme stress which tends to bring up trauma—he would come up against a lot of personal walls. I’m imagining flashbacks, chronic pain flare-ups, verbal shut-downs. Raph would absolutely be the one to help him the most. He’d probably understand it best even before they figure out causes (he deals with meltdowns during the show, like on screen. Also it’s implied he’s interacted more with humans and we see him making friends every time he goes out, so he’s probably dealt with panic attacks before). Maybe it could even lead to opportunities for Raph to talk with someone about the things he’s struggled with.
Wow Raph and Donnie’s got long—I have so much more in my head, but let me just say one of biggest reasons I relate so much to Donnie is because of how much he worries about each of his family, and April once she joins. And on recent rewatches, I love seeing throughout the show how he grows into his nurturing nature. (Seasons 6 and 7 kind of undid that growth, big part of why I don’t enjoy them as much. I mean he’s sweet with Cody but what the heck happened to his and Raph’s moments, and why is he suddenly so verbally harsh with Mikey? Idk I guess it’s just a different style)
#tmnt#tmnt 2003#2003 raph#2003 donnie#2003 leo#2003 mikey#this got so long#thanks for the ask!#love talking about them#a little too much as you can see#especially Raph and Donnie

I want to rant a little so before y'all attack me I ship Elucien so pls chill the f out. As always my problem is the fans (AND NOT ALL OF THEM). And if you don't agree with any of this please be respectful or just unfollow or block me, I'm not looking for an argument :)
The hate Feysand or IC gets from different sides of the fandom is funny to me. When they don't want to blame their favorite character, they put it on IC. And I'm specifically want to talk about Eluciens.
It's a little long so ->
Idk what's their problem and I certainly don't want to know (I didn't even know there was a problem but apparently is) but I found this out unwillingly when Tumblr thinks I would enjoy these kind of posts or when people don't know how to tag properly lol
So it seems Eluciens have problem with IC because they don't let them communicate without being watched and if they leave them alone they'll be getting along instantly...
First of all have y'all forget the fact that they have been alone? After the war Feyre specially leaves them alone and let them talk. No one watches and there's no one there to make them uncomfortable. And If I'm not wrong there is one other time before he leaves for the search of Vassa. My point is the times they've been watched, was because IC didn't trust Lucien not because they have problem with his bond with Elain. The bond is sacred to them, they'll never have any problem with that trust me.
So the fact that you don't take into account that maybe Elain is really not ready to be with Lucien is beyond me. That you take away her agency and turn it into someone else's fault.
You don't want to accept that Elain just had a messy break up, she still mourns her human life, she's somewhere she doesn't belong to and is utterly lost. You want to completely forget that and blame it on IC while they're their biggest supporters.
I'm pointing out to Morrigan, Rhysand, Feyre, Cassian and maybe Nesta (after acosf)
Morrigan who's power is truth and asked Feyre to let them figures it out themselves even tho Feyre was trying to get them to talk to each other. She asked Feyre to not interfere even tho her intentions were good.
When Rhysand stopped Az because he knew there's no thoughts behind his actions. And when he didn't answer him about Mor or when he questioned the Cauldron he instantly had to stop it. (Probably because Tam/in said something similar about his bond with Feyre and he saw his brother is turning to someone he hates.) And while I didn't like the fact that he kinda decided for Elain, he also didn't know what she really wants but whatever it is he turns the events in favor of Lucien and Elain or let's say somewhere with less heart break. He wants them to at least have one chance before they do anything else. Because let's be honest if Rhys knew Az and Elain would've been happy together and Azriel would genuinely love her, he wouldn't have brought all those political reason as to why they can't be together. He would've find a way to make it happen. Rhysand is the person who wants for his family to get to their HEA. So it's completely obvious to me that he wanted to give Az reasons as to not think with his d*ck as always.
And they love LOVE to bash Feyre for even commenting on Cauldron being wrong. Listen so here's the thing: Sjm wanted to bring this question as a way to show that her mates are never wrong, they're suited for each other and 90% endgame. And since the first 3.5 books are 1st person and its Feyre's story, it had to be questioned by Feyre. This was an author's choice and not Feyre genuinely believing that. And it was a question that leads to Rhysand explaining how untrue it is. It was just a way for Sjm to show her mates are not wrong for each other. Feyre wasn't forcing this idea at all. She's new to all of this even tho she's been living with them for a couple of years. Compare to everyone else who has been born fae. She has the right to question things. (And they always come up with this question: what if someone question Feyre's bond with Rhys wouldn't she get mad? Um... No. Because she's seeing and experiencing the result of accepting the bond and it has clearly worked out for her. And beside being mates, she loves him. Being mated was a bonus point for them. So she probably wouldn't care if Cauldron was wrong. The mating bond isn't the only reason they're together. One day I'll write a post about the mating bond and why I think it can't be wrong but that's for another time.)
And Cassian is on board with them because he, like Feyre and Rhysand, knows how it's like to be with your mate. And we see him looking at Lucien with pity. And he also notices that night court is definitely not for Elain.
And Nesta literally said this in hofas:
“I’ve been in the Fae realms long enough to know that there are forces that sometimes guide us, push us along. I’ve learned to let them. And to listen.”
... I MEAN, I MEAN!!! *read it in timothée chalamet voice*
In acosf she called Elain out on her behavior. So you see, everyone is somehow rooting for Elucien and want them to at least give it a chance.
I said all this to prove that IC shouldn't be blamed while Elain (and maybe even Lucien we've never read either povs) don't want to take a step toward each other--for now. I guess it's just easier to blame IC for something that's literally not their fault. Everything they did after Lucien came into Velaris was understandable. They didn't trust him and he proved his somewhat loyalty to them or at the very least to Elain. And this was back in acowar so things has changed!!! But let's not forget that in the last winter solstice, Elain sat furthest from Lucien and it was her choice!! Her not giving Lucien a chance (yet) is her choice. Not wanting to be alone with him is her choice, please try to understand.
Still holding a grudge when circumstances has changed after acowar is just petty imo...
#pro inner circle#pro elain & elucien(ig)#I srsly don't know how to tag and not get the attention of some people who are thirsty for a fight lol#but really ppl need to relax#stop being a hater ffs#it's really not that hard to understand#and beside it's clear that it's not their time#you want to see their progress in someone else's book?#oh boy#I hope I don't offend anyone with this#people get easily offended in this fandom#HELP#why I'm so scared to voice my opinion#I'm gonna hide bye

i present: yuichi's playlist! [spotify] [youtube]
(as of 3/14/2024)
as with most of the playlists i make, some songs are readily applicable, some just have the right Vibe, some are sorta funny... and in yuichi's case, there's a lot of a rain theme going on lol
(also, some are ones from my own tourabu mood playlist that i just had to bring over)
because i've always wanted to do this i'm gonna go through all the songs and maybe explain why i put it there or something?? yolo! playlist guide under the cut lol
i recommend having this going while you listen!
most songs (on the youtube version) have lyrics/translations where available!
there's a lot of kpop don't judge me lol
Dreamcatcher - Full Moon this is a song from dc to their fans on their first anniversary lol, so the themes of a somewhat-new bond are pretty relevant!
Seventeen- Campfire do i even need to explain? sobs this song makes my heart warm ... just thinking about yuichi & all the toudans sitting around a campfire having *sniffles* precious moments... ; A;
Rihanna - Umbrella LMAO this one is very on-the-nose but also just thinking about it's hilarious, i couldn't resist. (plus like... it's a jam. also lyrically it actually does fit!)
Dreamcatcher - Boca be prepared to see a lot of dreamcatcher w/me, they're my Favorite(TM). anyway Boca is about protecting someone from harsh words (better translation is "if those thornlike words / start to hurt you / i won't let them open that boca (mouth)") AND has a very rainy/stormy atmosphere which makes it perfect. yes i know my toudans are Sword Warriors yes i still want to protect them as best i can!! (it's more about like. bullying and hate but yknow. similar sentiments...shhh...)
The Weather Girls - It's Raining Men ...............i don't think i need to explain myself on this >.> (THO HAHA IMAGINE IF THIS WAS HOW SWORDS MANIFESTED IN HIS HONMARU i'm dead)
ToppDogg -Annie (Anniversary) another 'anniversary' type song, i think it speaks for itself. saniwa💙toudans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clean Bandit - Rather Be lyrically, yes!! being a saniwa is not an easy or peaceful job by any means but yuichi wouldn't want to be anywhere else <3 also the song makes me think of rainy/cool moist days!
Seventeen - Home seventeen shows up a decent amount too, but what can i say? the songs fit lol. saniwa-toudan relationships might not always be 100% sunshine and rainbows, but... they are home, no?
Twice - Feel Special GOD. this song came out while i was very into tkrb a few years ago and so that plus the song itself made me actually cry when i first watched it lol. it's so fitting though, i think from toudan or yuichi's perspective. for yuichi, he clearly struggles with his self-worth, and is...well, he's no stranger to a breakdown. but ... he's got so many touken danshi around him who love him
Girls' Generation - Talk Talk no explanation needed methinks! <3 just comparing a love to the rain
SF9 - The Beat Goes On okay this song is just like... pure beach episode, everyone gathering in the sunset and having a great time being free with each other. i include it on so many playlists where i just want to imagine a joyful time with the whole cast of whatever, it just has to go here too, even if you'd be hard-pressed to get yuichi on a beach lol
Yuju - Play this is just strictly for the vibes. i don't know that yuichi has someone who dipped and hurt him like that (but it could be interesting i guess lol). the song just is perfect for the rainy atmosphere
Dreamcatcher - Piri i told u prepare for dreamcatcher lol. anyway this song is literally about like... depression and getting to a point where you need a lifeline. very yuichi, unfortunately
New Politics - One of Us another "do i even need to explain?" song ;u; it's definitely on my tkrb playlist lol. also the lyric video is kinda fun lol imagining it as different toudans at the table
Gfriend - Summer Rain just very nice rainy vibes.
Super Junior - Why I Like You this song (the whole album really) has always given me rainy/humid vibes. but also... love <3 (ofc not necessarily romantic in yuichi's case! but yknow what i mean)
Flo Rida - My House almost a joke addition but like... also almost not a joke LOL
David Cook - Come Back to Me okay this song is tkrb playlist because it's like... 100% kiwame send-off vibes. i initially added it after watching hanamaru, thinking about kashuu sending off yasusada, but i think it also suits most sendoffs very well. i wanna cry. sobs....
SF9 - RPM So I don't have a good reason for adding this to yuichi's or my tkrb playlist other than it makes me think of using time travel to go on a mission. also i just REALLY like the song... and listening to it with the rain going is mmmwah *chef kiss*. just imagine a team going up to the [time travel device] all ready to fucking GO, looking all badass in the mist and shit. and then PPEPWWW they go! and now they're ready to fuck shit up (to un-fuck the timeline)... it's the VIBES AGAIN
Darren Hayes - Bloodstained Heart no words needed <3
Dreamcatcher - Over the Sky another anniversary fan song from dc! this song just makes me so happy and like. energized. spring time. anime conventions. so it's on my tkrb playlist, but it's also a sweet and fun song so, yknow, puts it on.
Ravi - Lean on Me is this yuichi talking to a toudan? or a toudan talking to yuichi? or ? who knows, but either way, i like it. sweet and reliable.
Seventeen - Thanks just... a song about being so grateful to know and love someone.
Major Lazer - Cold Water (the one song with justin bieber i listen to unironically lol)
Seventeen - Holiday oh man just LISTEN to it, even without the lyrics it's just like. fun!! party!! chill!!
SF9 - Bibora a jam. a rainy jam. but also maybe some parts of it speak to yuichi.
Jinsoul (Loona) - Singing in the Rain KNK - Rain Super Junior - Raining Spell for Love Strictly for the vibes.
JBJ - True Colors oh man. this song makes me cry too. my heart...
Starley - Call on Me Another song that I think explains itself lol
Dreamcatcher - Reason yet another anniversary song from deukae but it fits. through all the triumphs and hardships, despair and joy, the toudans in this citadel have become his whole reason for being and they inspire him to keep going and do better and be someone they can depend on and be proud to call their saniwa.
#sounds:yuichi#thats yuichi#honmayu#i'm not very insightful so the notes for each song didn't really go how i hoped LOL but yolo right#i doubt i will do this for the rest of the playlists for this blog jsdfjkdfkjldkfl
